MANILA, Philippines – The online backlash against Senate Bill 1979 or the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Bill and DepEd Memo 31 continues to grow, and parenting advocate and “Legendaddy” founder Raffy Zamora has joined the conversation with an uncharacteristically fiery response.

Known for his calm and insightful content focused on fatherhood, Zamora broke his usual tone in his latest episode on Peanut Gallery Media Network’s online platforms to issue a strong stand, declaring, “I will not stand by and watch my children’s future be shaped by forces that undermine everything we believe in.”

At the center of Zamora’s fury is Section 6 of the bill, titled Age and Developmentally Appropriate Comprehensive Sexuality Education, which mandates CSE in all public and private schools, leaving no room for parents to opt out. “It won’t be up to the teachers, administrators, or even us parents,” he said. “In short, no opting out. It will be fully controlled by DepEd and guided by international standards.”

Zamora shared a personal story about his seven-year-old daughter to highlight why this issue hits so close to home. “The other night, I was tucking my seven-year-old daughter into bed. She looked up at me with those bright, innocent eyes and asked, ‘Papa, what does it mean to grow up?’ Her question caught me off guard, but I smiled and told her, ‘It means learning how to make good decisions, understanding right from wrong, and becoming someone who takes care of others.’”

He continued, “Now, imagine this: What if one day, that innocence was taken away—not by life’s natural lessons, but by a school curriculum teaching her things that go against the values my wife and I have worked so hard to instill in her?”

The father of two expressed serious concerns about DepEd Memo 31’s reliance on UNESCO’s 2009 International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education. “Programs based on it have been shown to sexualize children, teach them to consent to sex, normalize anal and oral sex, promote homosexual or bisexual behavior, teach about sexual pleasure and masturbation, undermine abstinence as a goal, encourage early sexual independence, and undermine traditional values and parental rights,” Zamora said, listing the reasons he believes the program is harmful.

He also addressed Senator Risa Hontiveros, the bill’s author, who dismissed criticisms as “fabrications.” Zamora questioned this dismissal and called for dialogue. “Why not engage with groups like Project Dalisay through Chief Justice Sereno and the National Coalition for the Family and the Constitution (NCFC)? These people aren’t your enemies. They’re parents, advocates, and community leaders who care about children just as much as you do.”

Zamora also referenced President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s recent criticism of the bill, noting the president described certain provisions as “ridiculous and abhorrent.” He highlighted that multiple senators, including JV Ejercito, Nancy Binay, and Bong Go, have since withdrawn their support.

“As a father, I refuse to let my children become test subjects for a curriculum designed by organizations that do not understand or care about our traditions and beliefs,” Zamora said. “I want to teach my kids about life, love, and responsibility in a way that reflects our values—not someone else’s agenda.”

Zamora quoted one of his heroes, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, saying, “‘If you have something to say, silence is a lie.’ So here I am, speaking up—not as a pundit or an activist, but as a parent who loves his kids fiercely.”

He closed with a warning and a promise: “At the end of the day, the innocence of our children is worth every fight. You can come after me all you want, but if you want my kidsgppbet, you’ll have to go through me first.”
