One of the key changes includes an adjustment of wages for work visas. The New Zealand government has removed the median pay criteria for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and Specific Purpose Work Visa (SPWV).

This would mean that while employers would be required to post job offers and opportunities, they are not obligated to meet a predetermined salary criterion.

Furthermore, workers on a work visa must earn at least NZ$55,844 annually in order to bring their family - spouse, children and other dependents to New Zealand.

Minimum Work Experience Reduced

The government has also removed the three-year minimum work experience required for migrants. Migrants must now have a minimum of two years of experience to be eligible for a work visa in New Zealand.

Additionally, two new pathways have been introduced for seasonal workers - a three-year multi-entry visa for experienced workers and a seven-month single-entry visa for lower-skilled workers.

Accredited employers will no longer be required to complete the online training modules from January 2025 onwards.
